Energiewende Outlook: Electricity sector - Executive Summary

The aim of this study is to evaluate a range of strategies that could be pursued to ensure that the Energiewende, the transition process towards a sustainable energy system currently underway in Germany (the so-called “energy transition”) is successfully implemented. Each strategy is analysed with regard to its impact on the criteria making up the so-called “energy policy triangle” (economic viability, security of supply and environmental impact) in the context of different scenarios to 2050.
