Synthetic data as a solution.

Full flexibility while protecting privacy

The software solution developed by Statice turns your real data into synthetic data. It consists of completely new data points, but has the same structure and highly similar statistical properties than the original data set. Thanks to the privacy protection mechanisms, it is no longer possible to draw conclusions about sensitive information in the original dataset. This makes synthetic data an asset that is easy to handle and can be used in a variety of ways in different areas of the business.

Guaranteed GDPR compliance

The Statice solution evaluates the data protection of the synthetic data created at any time. In a user-friendly dashboard, you can check whether, for example, the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for data anonymisation are met. In addition, you get access to statistical information about the synthetic data quality and privacy, ranging from simple checks to comprehensive analyses and simulated privacy attacks on the data. The results can easily be used to prove data security to many stakeholders, such as the Data Protection Authority.

Find out why Statice helps your industry too:

Financial industry

To maintain a competitive edge, accessing and processing master- and transactional data is essential. However, strict data protection regulations and lengthy governance processes limit your ability to use data flexibly. Because some of your data resources contain personally identifiable information, they may not be shared with other departments. This complicates company-wide analyses and creates unnecessary data silos. In addition, it hinders the use of cloud technologies and inhibits the use of artificial intelligence in the company. However, a privacy-compliant synthetic version of this data can be immediately shared with other departments or even cross-border subsidiaries and can be used for product development or predictive analytics without compromising data privacy.

Once proved anonymous, you can legally process synthetic data for further purposes without the consent of your customers and thus gain insights into behaviour from this data.

Healthcare and pharmaceutical industry

The GDPR and many, sometimes competing, regulations in the healthcare sector make it difficult to access representative patient or disease data. For the use of such information with partners, e.g. to gain insights into disease progression and therapy options, the effectiveness of medicines or for joint product development and research, the need for reliable privacy procedures is essential. At the same time, however, reliable information is needed to derive robust findings. The risk of data breaches often prevents organisations from using this data at all. Synthetic data allows you to access the information securely while protecting the privacy of individual patients. This enables research collaboration and a better and more comprehensive understanding of patients and diseases.

Telecommunication companies

The telecommunications industry collects a large amount of high-frequency data every day. Besides master data, it is particularly traffic data that contains personal information. This includes phone numbers, details about call durations, location data or information about transmitted data volumes. This data is of central importance, e.g. for trend analyses, but may only be processed or stored to a very limited extent – at least unless the customer explicitly agrees to its further use.

Synthetic data provides you with a legally compliant solution for storing and analysing data, even over longer periods of time. Thanks to the data protection guarantee, you safeguard the privacy of your customers and can gain deep insights into the usage behaviour of telecommunication services quickly and easily.

FAQ

What is synthetic data?

Synthetic data is data generated by an algorithm. It consists of entirely new data points that have the same structure and similar statistical properties as the original dataset. However, due to privacy protection mechanisms, it is no longer without further ado possible to draw conclusions about sensitive information in the original data set.

How can synthetic data be used?

Synthetic data can be used in the same way as real data, the only difference is that it no longer contains sensitive, personal information. For example, you can use synthetic data for ad-hoc analysis of data sets, product development or to unlock group-wide insights - internally or in collaboration with partners.

What kind of data can be anonymised with Statice?

Statice can be used to anonymise all personal and sensitive data. The information only has to be available in a structured form, e.g. as a table.

Is the anonymity of the synthetic data guaranteed?

Yes. Statice goes beyond traditional post-processing, which typically blacks out sensitive fields or generalises attributes. Our anonymisation method mitigates the risk of a potential re-identification by consistently removing all 1:1 relationships to the original data. With the help of our integrated privacy assessment, you can easily prove that your synthetic data is legally compliant with data anonymisation requirements as defined in the GDPR.

Is it possible to reverse engineer the synthetic data generated with Statice?

No, unlike other anonymisation methods, the generation of synthetic data is irreversible: there is no key to revert from the synthetic data sets to the original ones.
